2012 vintage

The flowering affected by unstable weather and the difficult summer period which caused important damage for some of our colleagues in the Côte de Beaune area, reminded us that the winegrower has to suffer from and adapt to the whims of nature.

Nature has not been generous with the 2012 vintage whose main characteristic is the low yield. After a lot of worries and efforts to master the preparation of this vintage, we had the pleasure to host subtle and attractive wines in our cellars.

As they were maturing, the wines revealed a beautiful combination of the fruit with both acidity and tannins, providing a gorgeous energy as well as a nice ageing potential reminiscent of the characteristics of the 2010 vintage.

The appellation Gevrey-Chambertin 1er cru, produced by the young Ruchottes-Chambertin vine has disappeared from our selection as in 2012 we vinified the grapes from the young and the old vines together in order to produce Ruchottes-Chambertin on the whole plot.
