Domaines Mugneret-Gibourg et Georges Mugneret

Our Wines

Vosne-Romanée Vosne-Romanée

Vosne-Romanée 2004

Vosne-Romanée 2005

André Mugneret inherited Les Chalendins and Les Croix Blanches from his parents in 1938. The other parcels were purchased in 1934, at the same time as the house.

Drink when at its fruitiest -- just after bottling, or keep for a maximum of ten years. Serve with: Grilled or roasted red meats accompanied by salted new potatoes (the salted butter "La Bonnotte de Noirmoutier" is one of the best!...)

A tightly textured and lovely expression of fruit complemented by mellow tannins for this village wine, a blending of all of our parcels. A wonderful example of the 2005 vintage.

Bourgogne Bourgogne

Bourgogne 2005

The domain inherited Les Lutinières from Mugneret-Pasquier (André Mugneret’s parents) in 1931. The parcel was classified as a Vosne-Romanée Village appellation until 1936.

Vinified and matured like all the other appellations of the domain, this simple Burgundy can be drunk young, when full of fruit, or kept from three to four years after bottling. Serve with: pork sausages, roasted meats, mild cheeses

A classic ruby color for this Burgundy. The delicacy of the fruit and several spicy notes give even this, the simplest of our appellations, a delightful roundness of flavor on the palate.

Ruchottes-Chambertin Ruchottes-Chambertin

Ruchottes-Chambertin 2005

This parcel was obtained by Georges Mugneret with the help of Charles Rousseau in 1977, following the sale of Domaine Thomas-Bossot. Thank you, Charles Rousseau!

This wine can be kept for 10 years, but may be easily tasted and appreciated for up to 20 years. For fans of young wines, try it after five years -- it’s a lovely experience. Serve with: duck confit, beef in pastry crust, sautéed mushrooms, and of course, the wonderful local cheese Ami du Chambertin..

The color is never very dark, but the taste reveals a rich complexity, enhanced with vanilla, truffle, and black fruit perfumes. A long finish, elegant and well-defined.

Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru "Les Feusselottes" Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru "Les Feusselottes"

Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru "Les Feusselottes" 2005

This parcel was purchased by Georges Mugneret in 1985. The name "Feusselottes" or "Fousselottes" indicates land formed by little depressions, as is the case in our parcel.

The mouth and tannins are very refined. Keep this bottle (if you have the patience!) between five and 10 years. Serve with: Avoid strong-tasting, gamey meats; this appellation is best with simple meats.

The words of the great Burgundian writer Gaston Roupnel define this wine to perfection: "a wine of silk and lace, whose supreme delicacy ignores harshness and defies rigor." Even so, this wine is complex, with a deep ruby color, perfumed with red berries and a subtle, lightly spicy mouth.

Clos Vougeot Clos Vougeot

Clos Vougeot 2005

This was the first parcel purchased by Georges Mugneret in 1953 when he was a medical student. He had been determined to buy a parcel of Clos Vougeot ever since that of his grandfather had been sold, and had in his private cellar some 1929 Clos Vougeot - the year of his birth - coming from that old parcel. Marvelous!

A minimum of ten years. Serve with: Roast capon, beef in pastry crust, red wine sauce (not cream sauces), and why not with a dark chocolate dessert?

Intense ruby color, with a bouquet of black fruits, and an edginess associated with rich, harmonious tannins. A grand classic for this Clos Vougeot, which, following its ageing in casks, has allowed us to predict its future richness. A closed period is always to be expected for this wine, endowed with a monastic aspect during its first ten years.

Echezeaux Echezeaux

Echezeaux 2005

Echezaux derives from the Latin word for "buildings," thus revealing the presence of gallo-roman ruins. Jeanne and André Mugneret acquired Les Quartiers de Nuits in 1930, and added Les Rouges du Bas in 1934.

From five to twenty years. It is one of three grand crus that will appreciate the most rapidly. Serve with: Beef filet in mushroom pastry crust, duck confit, truffle omelette...

One of the domain’s great classic wines. André Mugneret assembled the two parcels so that this wine could express all its sophistication. Raspberry, cherry, and slightly roasted and spicy notes in the 2005 vintage, with mature and harmonious tannins.

Nuits-Saint-Georges Nuits-Saint-Georges

Nuits-Saint-Georges 2005

The parcel was purchased in 1932 by André Mugneret.

The age of the vines gives this wine good ageing potential, however, it is also enjoyable when young, thanks to the vegetal nuances associated with mature fruit. Serve with: red meats with sauces/gravies, morel mushrooms, eggs in red wine sauce

A pleasing ruby robe The fifty-year-old vines in this parcel in Nuits give a fruity delicacy and an unaggressive complexity.

Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Chaignots" Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Chaignots"

Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Chaignots" 2005

"Chaignots" comes from the word Chasne, old French for chêne (oak), meaning that there were originally oak trees in this area. Georges Mugneret purchased the parcel in 1971.

The generosity of this wine allows it to be appreciated when young, but also offers the potential of keeping it for between five and ten years after bottling. Serve with: grilled meats and cheeses -- never with cream sauces.

Classic ruby color This generous and smooth Nuits has accents of Vosne, and a greed-inducing nose and palate – a true delicacy, with undertones of rich black fruits and ripe tannins.

Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Vignes rondes" Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Vignes Rondes"

Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Vignes rondes" 2005

Marie-Christine purchased this parcel in 1981.

The firm structure of this wine suggests that it will keep longer than "Les Chaignots," and will delight the nose with its rich, ripe aromas, particularly when matched with wild game. Serve with: Squab, marinated meats, wine sauces, rabbit or venison terrine.

More reserved than the neighboring parcel "Les Chaignots," the tight structure of this wine makes for greater liveliness and length on the palate. With its lovely expression of redcurrants and bilberries, this is a classic Nuits-Saint-Georges beauty.
Contact
Distributors
History
Home
News
Our Wines
Press Review
The Domain
Viticulture & Vinification - Philosophie
Viticulture & Vinification - The Wine
Viticulture et Vinification - La Vigne
Women of the domain
Bourgogne 1996
Bourgogne 1997
Bourgogne 1998
Bourgogne 1999
Bourgogne 2000
Bourgogne 2001
Bourgogne 2002
Bourgogne 2003
Bourgogne 2004
Bourgogne 2005
Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru 'Les Feusselottes' 2005
Clos Vougeot 2005
Direct from the cellar and the vineyards
Echezeaux 2003
Echezeaux 2005
Echezeaux 2005
Nuits-Saint-Georges 2005
Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru 'Les Chaignots' 2005
Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru 'Les Vignes rondes' 2005
Reservations for the 2007 vintage
Ruchottes-Chambertin 2005
Vosne-Romanée 2004
Vosne-Romanée 2004
Vosne-Romanée 2005
